Another great video dude…. I also haven’t cleaned my FX6 for about 2 months!! People say they need cleaning weekly because of nitrates but I’ve never had a problem leaving it for a couple of months… I also have a fluval 407 that hasn’t been cleaned for about 6 months and still all is good…. Keep up the great work bro
Thanks friend 👍
I have just ordered one of these to run a long side my 407 and I must say this channel has helped massively Thankyou
I’m getting a FX2 on Tuesday this is useful information thanks 4 sharing
Good guide mate. Will help out anyone wondering where to start for sure.
Thanks hopefully 👍. Boring subject for some but necessary information for others
I love the simplicity of your systems 🙂
Thanks me too 👍
Maintenance is the key 👍
Beautiful video! Super helpful! Thank you SO much!
Thank you
saltwater guy here, checking out your video.
It's good to have dedicated channel that is UK based. It makes things easier for us here, what to buy, where to get hold of things, units and dimensions🤔 SO THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK AND HELPING US TO KEEP THIS HOBBY OF 🐟 🐠 FISH KEEPING.
Please what substrates do you use in your tanks? I'm remodelling my fluval roma 125 litres from white sand to black sand (non planted tank). Is it fluorite black sand? I just need a normal black sand, but google is not yielding a good result 😕 Thanks.
I use coraline sand in my marine tanks but black aquarium sand is fine as well
Great video and I will use some of your techniques!
I do not clean my FX6 as often as I should and though it's probably mostly to do with laziness and stings from bristle worms I also hate how many amphipods and copepods I lose when cleaning my canister. Though my canister is really just a pump that connects my planted tank (fancy refuigium as I call it) to my coral tank. I still worry as they are the backbone of my cleanup crew as well as my food for my mandarins and leopard wrasse.
Yes perfect little factory for critters 👌👍
I have two FX6's running on a 125 gallon with four monster S.American cichlids, and I alternate swapping the polishing pads about every five to six weeks on each one. I break them down about every four months to clean the sponges and haven't had a problem in the three years I've had the tank up and running. I also have a Fluval 307 on a 55 gallon with about 20 African cichlids that I swap the polishing pads out every two months and clean the sponges every four months and that tank hasn't had any problems either.
I think alot of people worry about how clean their filters are when the beneficial bacteria is what is keeping the tank stable, as long as the ammonia level is 0 and Nitrite level is 0 the tank is ok, most say to get the lowest Nitrates as possible, but my tanks always have between 30 and 60 ppm and all my fish are happy and breed like rabbits, it's the rapid fluctuations that harm the fish.
I know that this video is about filters. But I have a question about lighting a macro algae tank. I have a Finnex Stingray 2.0 and I plan on using it on the tank. I will also have some soft corals like mushrooms, zoas, and gorgonians. Do you think I will need some sort of blue light as well as the Stingray light?
I clean everything with faucet water except bio media. And just add stability. My fishes are fine.
Hey brother have a question.. I have a catfish video on my channel that I can't figure out what he is . Think u can tell me ?
Your plug is much bigger than the plug on my fx2 I just bought. I wonder if it’s a euro vs US thing?
QUESTION::do you manually fill the FX2 or does it fill up on its own when plugged. In? Please answer if you can
Mine auto fills itself, its a very good filter to be honest because it also self purges air every 12 hours.
Again you don’t want you mechanical filtration media cloggedwith bacteria. Also you never want to replace your bio media. If you’re tank goes cloudy it’s because your mechanical media is clogged with bacteria
Get the Eheim External Prefilter and stick it on the intake perfect combo for fluval fx thinking of getting another and have to intakes
You dont need to replace the water, these self prime and fill.
Forgot to put the basket hooks back on
Mine won’t restart. It’s my 2nd clean, took everything out and gave it a clean through and put it all back together then plugged it in and nothing happen. Any advise ??
Fx2 is a bad filter and massively overpriced. I've had mine a year, it's noisy and inefficient. Worse external I've ever had.
Mine is absolutely silent and keeps a fairly full tank very clean. I mean Silent! You may have a crappy one :(
